An SUV makes sense for Aston Martin. It’s what customers (not people shouting in comments sections, but real people with real money) want. Case in point, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a car derided by the people of the internet, accounted for 40 percent of the company’s 2019 sales, and 80 percent of the people that bought the car were new to the brand. For Aston Martin, a company that specializes in super powerful two door sports cars, offering something for customers who, maybe, would like to take their children and partner away for the weekend is a no brainer. The 2015 DBX concept was a decent opening salvo, promising an SUV that embodied everything an Aston should be. The 2020 production car looks vastly different, but still retains a heap of Aston Martin hallmarks. Side strakes above the front wheels, the 1:2 window to body ratio along the side, and the traditional grille up front all make it very obviously look like an Aston. A long nose, raked rear, and visual tricks along the side to hide its height give it an impression of being smaller than it really is. Inside is a feast of leather and metal. Aston’s leatherwork has always been on point, and it’s not different in DBX. Each touch point is a treat to hold.
