Here's Your First Real Look at the 2023 Honda Civic Type R


Pictures show a fully camouflaged prototype the company says will begin testing on the Nürburgring soon. Though the camo covers some aspects of the design, we can still make out a good deal of the shapes. Here's Your First Real Look at the 2023 Honda Civic Type R



There's a new fascia with wider grilles, as well as flared fenders on all four corners to house wider, stickier rubber. We can make out side skirts with winglets on each end, and bigger brakes all around. Here's Your First Real Look at the 2023 Honda Civic Type R



Out back we can see a new bumper with a built-in diffuser that houses a new version of the car's signature triple-exit exhaust pipes. The wing has also been redesigned with a new shape and separate uprights. Here's Your First Real Look at the 2023 Honda Civic Type R



Honda has yet to release any technical details regarding the 2023 Type R, though we expect it to retain a similar drivetrain layout to the current model. That means a turbocharged inline-four under the hood sending power to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. As for power, we suspect it'll get a solid bump over the current car's 306 hp if Honda wants to retake its front-wheel-drive Nürburgring record.
